John was the son of Samuel Canner (b. ca. 1828) and Sarah Canner (b. ca. 1829), both born in England. Contributor #47880128, a distant cousin, suggested the parental links added to this memorial; I've not tried to confirm that those persons were John's parents.
He first married (in 1900) Laura A. Foster (b. 1873 in Canada.) The couple had one child, Louise M. Canner Wisner (b. 1901).
After Laura's death John married Cora Benner in Spokane City on 28 May, 1909. They seem to have had only one child, daughter Burness G. Canner (b. ca. 1924)
Information not taken from survey (see "Inscription") comes from U. S. Census enumerations for 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, and 1940; U. S. World War I Draft Registration Card; Washington Marriage Records, 1865-2004; Washington Deaths, 1883-1960; Washington Births, 1883-1935 (re: daughter Louise).
