She was born in Palco, Kan., on June 29, 1922.
Mae was a long-time resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., moving there with husband Les and daughter Lyn in 1965. She worked at Bella Vista Elementary School for 15 years. She was an active member of the Girl Scouts for 10 years. Mae was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of Tucson. She loved her arts and crafts and probably owned every color of yarn known to man.
Mae was married to the love of her life, Les, for 68 years — when he passed away on their anniversary in 2009. They were married the day before Pearl Harbor. After Les died, she moved to Peoria, Ariz., and though she missed Sierra Vista, she finally took her cruise to Alaska — and played slots in all the local casinos.
