Son of Thomas York and Mary Dickens of Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, England. Emigrated to Canada with his wife (Ann Hall) and five children in 1844. Ann died on Grosse Isle PQ within days of landing, leaving Henry a widower with five children.
Henry went on to homestead in St. Vincent Township and married again to Elizabeth Prentice on 12/6/1851.
At age 68 he moved again to Miami MB.
Although he was a farmer, Henry spent much of his life hauling freight with oxen and horse.

Gravesite Details

Note: gravestone, Miami (MB) Cemetery; He is buried in the Nelsonville (MB) Cemetery but the stone was moved in 1954 to the Miami (MB) Cemetery. The location of the graves in Nelsonville is probably near the grave of Robert Laycock
