From the Nevada State Journal, Monday, June 23, 1969:

RENO BOY FIRES PISTOL IN MOUTH, DIES

A 13-year-old Reno boy apparently took his own life Sunday afternoon by firing a .25 caliber pistol bullet into his mouth. Police identified the victim as Paul Curry, the foster son of Mr and Mrs. Charles Ztrakas of 3155 Bryan Street.

Officers said the boy's foster father returned home and found the lad dead in his bedroom. Police learned that the boy's real parents had died tragically and the fact apparently weighed heavily on his mind.

His foster parents, grief-stricken by the boy's death, told police they had felt he was adjusting well to his new environment and school work. The suicide came as a complete shock to them, they told police.

Officers said the boy did not leave a note or any other indication of his intention, except that he had neatly packed away all his belongings. Funeral arrangements are pending at Walton's Funeral Home.
