Artie Marie Estes, 87

SALEM Artie Marie Estes, 87, of Viola, daughter of the late John Wesley and Nettie Lee (Thomas) Boothe, was born on Oct. 28, 1920, at Ash Flat. She died on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem. A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Viola Baptist Church with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Steve Spurlin officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Barker Funeral Home in Salem.

Artie was united in marriage to Lowell "Jack" Leslie Estes May 12, 1945, at Agnos and was a homemaker. Artie was a member of Viola Baptist Church and Fulton County Retired Teacher's Association.

She leaves to mourn her passing, four sons, Ron (Rose) Estes of Mammoth Spring, Jackie (Brenda) Estes of Viola and Jim (Pam) Estes and Joe (Laurie) Estes, all of Mountain Home; three brothers, Loyd Boothe, Horace Boothe and Jimmie Boothe; four sisters, Mary Sue Orr, Eula Lee Spurlock, Bonnie Goodson and Barbara Hatman; seven grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Zach, Dylan, Mark, Michael and Patty (Estes) Callaway; four stepgrandchildren, Keith Pitts, Michael Pitts, Chancey McGowan and Justin McGowan; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother J. W. Boothe and sister Lorine Boothe.

Interment will be at Agnos Cemetery at Agnos under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem. Pallbearers will be Michael Estes, Mark Estes, Jason Estes, Justin Estes, Kevin Sharable and Jay Callaway. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Crow, Dennis Harber, Charles Sherman, Connie Hutson, Coy Stone, Gary Williams, Zach Estes and Dylan Estes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Viola Baptist Church Sign Fund.
