Minnie Roby, 84, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 4, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Colquitt, Ga., daughter of John Ford and Dressie Hutchins Ford. She married Henry Roby July 20, 1947, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Roby received her education in the Waterloo School District.
Survived by: two daughters, Angela M. Dotson of Waterloo and Diedra R. Roby of Minneapolis; a son, Michael (Betty) of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Derothia Sheckles of Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Harris Ceaser of Waterloo; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a son, Reggie Roby; and a sister, Mae Eva Burt.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Payne AME Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be for two hours before the services Monday at the church. Sanders Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Minnie was a compassionate Christian woman who dearly loved the Lord and her church and was a faithful Christian all her life. A loving wife and mother, she and her husband raised four wonderful children, two of whom became professional athletes. For many years she volunteered her time hosting the morning gospel radio program on KBBG. She also was an active member of Jesse Cosby Center.
