John Brenner, 82, a retired farmer and an auctioneer for 58 years, died this morning in the residence of his son, Wilfred Brenner of East Greenville.

Mr. Brenner was a director of First Savings and Loan Co. and had served as Sunday school superintendent of the Methodist church in East Greenville for 25 years.

He was one of the organizers of the East Greenville Boy Scouts in 1919 and was awarded the Silver Beaver for his Boy Scout work.

He served as a member of the Tuscarawas township board of education for 24 years and as a town trustee for 12 years. Mr. Brenner was a member of Clinton lodge No. 47, F. and A. M., Hiram Chapter No. 18, RAM, and Massillon Commandery No. 4, Knights Templar.

In addition to his son with whom he made his home he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. M. Horst, of Orrville; a sister, Mrs. David Brubach, of Ridgewood, N.J.; a brother, Edward Brenner of North Lewisburg, O.; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the Wilfred Brenner residence in East Greenville with the Rev. Carlan Elliott, pastor of Christ Methodist church in Akron, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Earl Hart, pastor of the East Greenville Methodist church.

Interment will be made in the Brookfield cemetery.

The body will be removed to the residence from the Arnold-Lynch funeral home Thursday morning. Friends may call at the residence. A Masonic service will be held at the residence Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
