Walter D. Bible, 81, of Toby Road, Mohawk, died Sunday evening at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Bible retired from L&N Railroad after 25 years of service.
He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and the Retired Railroad Association.
Survivors include a daughter: Candis Bible of Greeneville; a son: Michael D. Bible of Lafayette, Ind.; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Robert "Red" and June Bible of Muncie, Ind., and Cletus and Effie Bible of Greeneville; his special girlfriend: Sue Henry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a son of the late Herman and Ruth Bible and was preceded in death by a son: William "Billy Joe" Bible; his former wife: Clara Lee Bible; six brothers: Ray Bible, Lee Bible, Jim Bible, Buff Bible, June Bible, and Paul Bible.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. John Rogers will officiate.
A committal service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in Fairview Cemetery in the McDonald community of Mohawk.
Family and friends will meet at 10:45 at the cemetery.
