We had a good rain Sunday morning and another in the afternoon. It came in time to save the late corn, but most of the early planting is damaged.
Charlie Yust, the 13-year-old step-son of William Turner, met an untimely death last Sunday by lightning. He and Mr. Turner were on the road from town, and when near Sam Boone's lightning struck him, killing him instantly, harming Mr. Turner the least bit.
A later story published in the Weekly Interior Herald (Hutchinson, KS) stated the following on page 1:
Last Sunday, a thirteen year old boy named Yust, a nephew of Fred Yust of Hayes township, was struck by lightning and instantly killed.
