He was born July 29, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Frank Runkles and Eva Fofi Runkles Antonacci. He married Carolyn Reymer Heninger in 1995.
Mr. Runkles was head of security for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was active in Roman Cultural Society Service and Evening Republican Club. He was a life member of California Rabbit Club and was a member of American Rabbit Breeders Association.
Survivors: wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Kimberly House and Tracey Runkles, both of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Angela Strawn of Effingham and Andrea Heninger of Springfield; a grandson; sister, Barbara (husband, Fred) Douglas of Springfield; brother, Ronald (wife, Albina) Runkles of Antioch; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial: Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
