Roxanne says this Martha Shaeffer is Martha 'Patsy' Bass daughter of Edward Bass and Mary 'Polly' (Saffley) Bass.
Based on info that Roxanne has given me, I am also linking Martha to her parents Thomas Edward Bass and Mary 'Polly' Saffley.
Roxanne says Martha was born 12/8/1822 at Surry, NC and she was married 3 times to:
(1) Fennel Nathaniel Landreth
(2) Isaac Price
(3) Peter Shaeffer

23 Aug 2014 - Another note from Roxanne: I have a obit from the Boone Iowa Democrat dated Wednesday Feb 28, 1894 Mrs Martha Shafer widow of Peter Shafer, died at Missouri Valley Thursday at the age of 73. The deceased was a sister of the Bass brothers of Boone county, and well known here. She left three children, all grown. She also has a probate in that same county - and is the one and same person. This is ALL proven through Boone county paper and Harrison county courthouse in Iowa.

5 Jun 2017 - There were 2 other children. Rachel who born 6 Jan 1845 in Indiana and married Cyrus Heller. She died in Boone County, Iowa on 27 Mar 1871. And John Wesley Bass was born about 1846. He could've died young. Her father's will lists her as having the last name of Shipley. I cannot verify that she married anyone by that name.
