Joe Dean Cassingham

Joe D. Cassingham, age 75, passed away June 8, 2013 at 12:20 pm.

Joe was born in Blackwell, OK to Lloyd and Eileen (Michael) Cassingham on November 13, 1937.

Joe graduated from Carl Junction High School, and spent over 50 years of his life in the Cherokee County area.

Throughout life, Joe enjoyed his garden. He loved growing and selling vegetables, and continued to do so until his health no longer allowed.

He also carried tickets at the Columbus Auction for many years, and made some lifelong friendships at the auction barn. He attended the Columbus Auction up until the very last sale.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Cassingham, in 1941, his mother, Eileen Stryker, in 2000, and his step-father James Stryker, in 1994.

Survivors include a list of very special friends: Adelia Clark of Galena, Brad and Elaine Clark of Galena, Susan Davis of Baxter Springs, Peggy Bogle of Baxter Springs, Betty Burr of Columbus, and all of his friends from the Columbus Auction.

A graveside service will be held at Baxter Cemetery on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 3 PM.

Pastor Jeff D. Martin will officiate.

The visitation will take place at Derfelts Baxter Chapel from 1:30-2:30 prior to the service.
