Mary Jane was the 4th child of William L (Bill) and Bertha NItterhouse.
She married Fred Johnston on Nov.14, 1936. To earn money to buy a house, Mary Jane took a job at the Stanley Company. She worked there until the birth of their daughter.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, AARP, the Golden Age Club, and the Ladies Auxiliaries of The Loyal Order of Moose and the BPOE.
Mary Jane lost her battle against cancer in 1986 at the Chambersburg Hospital. She was survived by her husband, daughter Sharan, son Dan, two grandchildren, sister Louise, brothers T.K. (Pete) and Kenneth as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
