Robert Theodore NItterhouse, Jr. was born in Chambersburg to Robert Nitterhouse, Sr. and Elizabeth McDonald Nittterhouse. He was a 1934 graduate of Scotland School For Veterans' Children. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World II. He had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot for 30 years.

He was a member of the Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 48 and the Scotland School Alumni.

Robert died as a result of injuries sustained in a pedestrian-vehicle accident on Rte. 11 near his home.

He was survived by his wife Dorothy Lehman whom he married on Sept. 4, 1937, sons Robert L. and Jerry A., two grandchildren, brother Earl W. and sister Thelma Romesberg.
