Charles R. Taughinbaugh, Jr. YORK Charles R. Taughinbaugh, Jr., 65, passed away at 7:13 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2005, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jean M. (Gundlach) Taughinbaugh with whom he celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on July 24, 2004.
Mr. Taughinbaugh was born in Bedford on October 19, 1939, to the late Charles R. and Elizabeth M. (Gill) Taughinbaugh, Sr.
He retired from Prudential Insurance in 1995 after 20 years of service. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Charles was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, York and the Shiloh American Legion Post 791.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Susan A. Maedl Stambaugh and husband Eric of York; two sons, Patrick E. Taughinbaugh of Dover and Brian S. Taughinbaugh and wife Mary of Dover; son-in-law, John E. Maedl of York New Salem; four grandchildren, Lindsey M. Maedl, Heather C. Maedl, Caleb M. Taughinbaugh, and Olivia G. Taughinbaugh; and one sister, Patricia A. Stough of York. He enjoyed vacation cruises with his wife and family.
Following cremation, burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dover Area Ambulance Club Inc., 40 E. Canal Road, Dover, PA 17315; or to the USO World Headquarters, Dept. WS, P.O. Box 96860, Washington, D.C. 20090-6860.
