From the Gazette June 9, 2013 -

Kathleen Louise Bartleson died peacefully, June 4, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born to Claude and Minnie Shamburg in Beloit, KS, November 29, 1930, the youngest of four children. Her early life was spent on the family's farm near Beloit; she graduated from Beloit High School in 1948. In 1950, after a year attending Kansas State University, she married Max L. Bartleson, her high school sweetheart. Over their long and happy life together, Max's work and their business ventures took them and their growing family to several different locations: Alliance, NE; Fresno, CA; Ft. Worth, TX; and twice to Colorado Springs, CO where they settled in 1964. Wherever they lived, Kathleen created a comfortable and loving home for her family, and she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. After their children were reared and away from home, Kathleen took a more active role assisting Max in managing their business, Knob Hill Service and Towing. They shared the joy of exploring much of the country in their RV, and she rarely missed an opportunity to hunt for an antique. Anyone who visited their home during the Christmas season will remember the holiday wonderland she created every year. She especially cherished her role as grandmother to four, and they remember their sleepover at Grandma's when every happy day ended with a gentle back rub, and "Good night. Sleep tight. Don't let the bedbugs bite!" Kathleen is survived, and lovingly remembered, by her husband, Max; 2 daughters, a son, 4 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a sister. She was preceded in her passing by an Infant Daughter,
her brother, Eugene Shamburg; and sister, Lucille Applebee.
A graveside service will be held at her interment 10:30AM, June 11, 2013 Scottsville Cemetery, Kansas. Service arrangements are under the direction of McDonald-Rogers Funeral Home, Beloit, KS.
