Blair Allen Berens was born May 18, 1939, at home in Wood Center, Iowa, the son of Edith (Bissell) Berens and Paul Berens. He married Janet Kathleen DeMoss on June 7, 1959, at Strawberry Point. He was a finish carpenter for Rechkemmer Construction in Oelwein, and served in law enforcement at Strawberry Point and Clayton County Sheriff's Department, retiring in 2001. His wife and two daughters survive, along with three grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and many extended family members and friends. Blair Berens died at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City on June 8, 2013. He was 74 years old.
Funeral services were held on June 12, 2013 at the Strawberry Point United Methodist Church, with Pastor Randy Moser officiating.
