Silas M. (Mitt) Grant, 92, died at Lake City Hospital at 2:20 p.m. September 9.

He was formerly of the Demory Community of LaFollette and had been a patient at the Lake City Nursing Home for the past three years. He was a member of the Demory Baptist Church and a retired farmer.

He is survived by five sons, Fletcher and Silas Grant, both of LaFollette, Doyle Grant of Baltimore, Maryland, Lloyd Grant of Hopewell, Va., E. L. Grant of Shreveport, La., five daughters, Mrs. Mary Thompkins of Caryville, Mrs. Begie Hatmaker of Shoshone, Idaho, Mrs. Vivian Carroll and Mrs. Mary Shetterly, both of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Aileen Kidwell of Jacksboro; one brother, Rufus Grant of LaFollette; four sisters, Mrs. Matt McLeaster, Mrs. Laura Davis, Mrs. Ethel Morton, Mrs. Minnie Malicote, all of LaFollette; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the S. M. Grant Memorial Fund, Lake City Nursing Home, Lake City, TN, 37769.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Demory Baptist Church by the Rev. Audra Cooper and the Rev. Ralph Cordell. Martin Funeral Home, LaFollette, was in charge of arrangements.
