A Memorial Service for Frances E. Joki, 85, of Concord Township, will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Calling hours will be observed from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service at the church.

Frances was a resident of Concord Township for the past 48 years, and a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1965, where she served as assistant treasurer, Sunday School secretary for 15 years, food pantry helper and a member of the Martha Guild for 24 years, where she served as assistant coordinator for the past 20 years.

She was a volunteer at the Lake East Hospital emergency room for 17 years, past president of the Altrusa Club of Lake County, past president of Painesville C.C. Thursday Morning League and president of the Women of the Church at Hope Lutheran Church in Cleveland Heights before moving to Concord Township in 1964.

Frances was born in Lima on Nov. 23, 1927, and was a graduate of Lima Central High School in 1945. She moved to Cleveland in 1950, and was employed at Harshaw Chemical and Equity Savings.

She married Niilo Joki on Dec. 27, 1952, at Hope Lutheran Church in Cleveland Heights.

Her survivors include her husband; daughter, Carol J. Miller of Chicago, Ill.; sons, Mark (Karen) of Dover and Neil (Lisa) of Fairport Harbor; grandchildren, S. Sgt. Brian U.S.A.F., Keith, Steven, Anthony and Amanda; stepgrandsons, Adam and Andrew Dreher; brother, Oscar (Evelyn) Scheufler of Lima; sister, Margery (Dick) Whitmore of Fayetteville, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Helmi Browne of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Scheufler; sisters, Cyrissa Clay and Mary Neil; brothers, Walter, Paul, Gerald, Robert and Wayne Scheufler; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Private burial services will be held at Riverside Cemetery with Pastor Gerald Matzke officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Our Shepherd Lutheran School, 508 Mentor Ave., Painesville, OH 44077.

Arrangements are by the Potti Funeral Home Inc., in Painesville.
