He was born in Logansport and moved to Muncie as a child with his parents. Mr. Finney attended city schools, graduated from Central High School and spent most of his life in this area.
Mr. Finney was employed for mre than 30 years at The Muncie Star as a printer prior to his retirement in 1974, and he previously had been a newspaper carrier for 20 years. He was a member of Muncie Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth, to whom he was married for more than 52 years; a daughter, Shirley Liby, Muncie; two sons, David Finney, Tustin, Calif., and Wallace Finney, Key West, Fla.; a brother, Thomas Finney, Logansport; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be in Meeks Mortuary at 10 a.m. Friday. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow or prior to services Friday.
