Tessie Fay (Hicks) Owen passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper, Arkansas.

She was born July 29, 1921 to Will and Susie (Garrison) Hicks at Wayton, Arkansas.

She was a member of the Wayton United Baptist Church.

Tessie and her husband moved to California during World War II. She taught the nine year old girls Sunday School class of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Richmond, California for many years.

Upon retirement in 1976, they returned to Arkansas to live in Benton County where Tessie worked as a cook for ten years in the Bentonville School System. In 1996, they moved to Wayton, Arkansas and she had been a resident of the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper, Arkansas since 2005.

Tessie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, M. Eugene Owen; three sisters, Effie Ammons, Ollie Vaughn and Floy Hampton; five brothers, Beacher Hicks, Lattie Hicks, Lexie Hicks, Ertle Hicks and Arthur Lee Hicks.

She is survived by one brother, Loyal Hicks of the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper, Arkansas; two daughters, Kathryn Owen Casey and husband, Curtis of Deer, Arkansas and Brenda Owen Fleming and husband, Tom of Bella Vista, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Dawnene Casey Donikowski, Brent Casey, Stephanie Fleming Hendricks and Aaron Fleming; eight great-grandchildren, Sharalyn Donikowski Terrel, Mae Lina Donikowski, Seth Donikowski, Stevi Casey, Whitney Casey, Lydia Hendricks, T. Williamson Hendricks and Thomas Eugene Fleming; one great-great grandson, Tristan Terrel and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends who will mourn her passing.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Wayton United Baptist Church with burial in the Wayton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Casey, Tom Fleming, Brent Casey, Aaron Fleming, Tim Hendricks and Greg Donikowski. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Hicks and Kirby Hudson.
