Her full name was Bertha Elizabeth (Ahlfeld) Elliott Hodgett.

WOOSTER -- Bertha (Ahlfeld) Elliott, 103, of Wooster, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Wayne County Care Center.

Bertha was born April 21, 1905, in Indiana to Ernest and Catherine (Ahleit) Ahlfeld, and married L.K. (Derby) Hodgett in 1929. Together they moved to Ohio in 1931, to help start Apple Creek State Hospital, which later became Apple Creek Developmental Center. Derby died in 1959. In 1966, she married H. Bayne Elliott. He also preceded her in death in 1987.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2284 Benden Drive, Wooster, is assisting the family with arrangements.

A time of visitation will be Monday, June 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. It was her wish that a private graveside service be held at the convenience of the family.

Survivors include, a son, Lewis A. Hodgett of Whittier, Calif.; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, five brothers and four sisters.
