THOMAS JAMES MOSS, SR. was born in Canada in 1855. His father was from WALES. He emigrated to the United States as a young man. He met Miss ROZELLA (a.k.a. Zella and Ella) LAHMAN of Niles Township, Indiana, and they were married on August 4, 1888 in Delaware County, Indiana.

THOMAS JAMES MOSS, Sr. and ELLA (Zella) LAHMAN MOSS had two children in Delaware County, Indiana;
Louise Moss and Charles Henry Moss.
Then, they moved to Chippewa County, Kinross, Michigan. They had 5 more children:
Irene Amelia Moss; Sarah Ellen Moss; Priscilla Alma Moss; Thomas James Moss, Jr.; David Edward Moss;

In the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Ella Moss is listed as the head of the household, living in Chippewa County, Kinross, Michigan with all of these children, with the exception of Louise Moss, who was now married; and Charles Moss, who died as a child in 1906 of Pulmonary Consumption. Charles H. Moss is buried at Lakeside Cemetery in Kinross, Michigan.

Later in 1910, Thomas Moss, Sr. and Ella Moss emigrated to Canada with their children. There, another son was born to them in (Dauphin, District 16, sub-district 18).Neepawa, Manitoba, named Samuel Moss. In the 1911 Canadian Census, Thomas James Moss, Sr. and Ella Moss are listed as living with 6 children.
