Patrick and wife Mary and their six children emigrated to St. Paul in the early 1880s. Unable to find a suitable place to live they built a home on Topping Street, which today is still standing. They later moved on to Como Drive.
Patrick was an employee of St. Paul Water Works for many years. After his retirement he found it difficult to be idle so he took up the position of custodian at the Court House of St. Paul, working there until his death.
