John W. Balthis, 80, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 14, 1997, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, at Newcomer's Floral Hills Chapel; Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
Mr. Balthis was born February 27, 1917, in Marshall, Missouri, and had lived in Kansas City for most of his life. He attended Marshall High School and Missouri Valley College. He was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church of Kansas City. He worked for KCPL for 37 years and was a member of IBEW local 1464. He was preceded in death by his grand daughter, Stephiane Pezez. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Helen L. (Allen) Balthis, of the home; a son, John A. Balthis, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; a daughter, Paula K. Ellis, Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Doris Virginia Boley, O'Fallon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Steven G. Perez Jr. and Chad Perez: three step grandchildren; and several nieces and newphews.
