Born to Santiago Martinez Minguez and Maria Lopez Rios.

Came to the USA in May 1913 via Ellis Island at the age of 12 on the Ship Maracaibo that sailed from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

He served on the USS Michigan from July 27, 1917 to January 15, 1919 & on the USS St. Francis from March 31, 1919 to July 21, 1919. Final rank CM3C (Carpenter's Mate, 3rd Class) during World War I.

His first wife was Rosalie Muthig Minguez, who passed away in 1934. His children from that marriage are: Norman, Rosalie and Dorothy.

He married Anna Chestnut on April 15, 1936 in Elkton, Maryland. His children from that marriage are Julius, Jr. and Anna. Another child, George passed away.

His early homes in the USA were 2636 S. Hicks Street and 2836 S Randolph Street, both in Philadelphia, PA.

He and his family later moved to Avalon, NJ where they raised their children and worked before he and his wife Ann retired to Sarasota, Florida.
