Funeral services for George Dewey Turner Jr., 85, who died Aug 22, 2008, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Colboch and Dr. Milton G. Frazier officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Anson Memorial Park in Wadesboro, N.C., directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mr. Turner was born in Anson County, N.C., a son of the late George Dewey Turner, Sr. and Lula Hutchinson Turner. He was associated with Quality Hardware for many years and later with Henderson ACE Hardware until his retirement. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Living Hope Sunday School Class and a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his son, Mitchell (Judy) Turner of Hartsville; daughter, Denise (Robin) Hagy of Anderson; daughter-in-law, Betty Jo H. Turner of Hartsville; grandchildren, Bryan (Amanda) Turner Jr., chief of police of Mauldin, Dawn (John) Clark of Darlington, Ronald Turner Jr. MD, of Charleston, Meredith Irby of Anderson, Natalie Irby, Boston, Mass; great-grandchildren, Carson Turner, Carrington Turner, Cameron Turner, all of Sumter, Abby and Cole Clark of Darlington, Madyson Turner of Mauldin; brother, Harold Turner of Glenn Allen, Va.; sisters, Virginia Moore of Wadesboro, N.C., Faye Smith of Conover, N.C., Betty Brigman of
