MRS. ADA POET, RESIDENT HERE 43 YEARS, DIES
Mrs. Ada E. Poet of 1309 Sherman, a resident of Canon City since 1914, died Tuesday afternoon at a local hospital where she was admitted about 10 days earlier for treatment of a broken hip. She had been in failing health the past two years.
Ada E. George was born July 28, 1878, in Wayne county, Michigan, and married John R., Poet on February 28, 1895, at Romulus, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Poet lived in that state until 1908 when they moved to Colorado for Mr. Poet's health.
They had resided in Penrose five years before taking residence at 1309 Sherman avenue, the family home since. Mrs. Poet became a member of the Free Methodist church when 16 years of age and had been active in the Canon City congregation of this faith since living here.
Mr. Poet, who died here in 1934, was a minster of the Free Methodist church while in Michigan but became a farmer and poultryman after moving to Colorado.
Children who survive are Mrs. Charles Koch, Mrs. O. J. Kindall and George A. Poet of Canon City, Richard H. Poet of St. Helena, Wash., Seth E. Poet of Denver and John R. Poet of Portland, Ore. One son preceded his parents in death in 1907.
There are 25 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held from the Free Methodist church Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John Moore officiating. Interment will be made in Lakeside cemetery under the direction of the Wilson mortuary.
