HENRY C. BRITTINGHAM, SHELBY PIONEER, DEAD
Henry Clay Brittingham, 82, for 76 years a resident of Shelby County, died late Thursday at his home, 749 Roanoke Street, of an acute heart attack.
Mr. Brittingham was a native of St. Louis, but moved to Memphis with his parents when six years old. He worked for the Southern Railroad for several years as a machinist, then moved to Cordova, Tenn., where he engaged in farming for 10 years. He returned to Memphis 10 years ago.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sallie P. Rodgers Brittingham; a son, S. H. Brittingham, and four daughters, Mrs. Anne Colsher, Mrs. Albert Martin and Mrs. J. N. Reberg, Memphis, and Mrs. John E. Hein, St Louis.
Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the McDowell & Monteverde funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
