Herbert John TESKE born 11 November 1900 on Teske homestead near Mansbridge, Charles Mix County, South Dakota was the son of Samuel TESKE and Karolina DOERR.
After receiving his elementary education at Dewey School, 2½ miles west of the farm, Herb spent the next two and one-half years working with his father and older brothers on the farm.
Herb entered St. John's College, Winfield, Kansas in 1917 and completed his pre-seminary education there in 1923. Thereafter, he attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri from which he was graduated in 1926. He was ordained into the ministry of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod on 29 August 1926 and served conregations in Ellendale and Forbes, North Dakota.
In subsequent years he served Lutheran congregations in Missouri, South Dakota, Nebraska and Illinois before retiring from the active ministry in 1969. His retirement years were spent with his wife, Laura, in St. Louis, Missouri where he died on 19 June 1977.
