Miss Anna Laura Johnson left yesterday for Pittsburgh to begin her duties as contralto soloist of the Third Presbyterian church, of that city. She was elected to this position a few weeks ago over many other applicants, eleven of whom were from New York City. She received the unanimous vote of the music committee. The position is one greatly to be desired and carries a fixed salary of $1,500. The opportunities of outside engagements easily swell this to $2,500. Miss Johnson has received many complimentary notices from the press of Indianapolis and wherever she has appeared before audiences. Her recognition and present promotion are a source of much gratification and a delight to her many Franklin friends who have watched her progress with every increasing interest.
