The death date is difficult to read on the old headstone and some transcribers have recorded it as 1841 however I have viewed and photographed it and I believe it is 1851.
Mary Ann was the mother of Rev. Henry Franklin Sproles (1844-1912), Martha Ann Sproles (1846-1898), and Wilson Lafayette Sproles (1848-1901).
I believe Mary Ann was the daughter of Adam Fortune and could have been born either in FL, MS territory, or S.C.
Mary Ann's sister, Sarah Fortune (1833-1878), married Samuel W. Sproles, moved with her family from MS to TX and is buried in Prospect Cemetery, Lee Co., Texas.
After Mary Ann's death her husband married Mary F. Brownlee and is buried beside his second wife in Saron Cemetery (Holmes County, MS).
