Martha Ramsay Knight of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Thursday, June 13 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease nine years ago.

Nothing gave Martha more joy than serving those she loved: her husband of 52 years, Atwood Douglas Knight, whom she married in 1947, her daughter and granddaughter, Melissa Jordan and Sarah Jordan Hall and her church, Murray Hill Presbyterian.

With humility and a gentle spirit, Martha was the President of Presbyterian Women, elected Elder Emeritus, and delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years.

She was born on November 1, 1926 in Pickens County, South Carolina to Eugene Baskin Ramsay and Annie Lucy Henderson. The oldest of seven children, Martha grew up in Seneca, South Carolina, graduated from high school and moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she met her future husband.

Martha is preceded in death by her husband, AD Knight, her parents, Eugene and Annie Lucy Ramsay and her siblings, Robert Ramsay and Linda Smith. The memory of Martha will live on through her daughter, Melissa Jordan (Ken) and granddaughter, Sarah Jordan Hall (Marshall) as well as her siblings: Catherine Taffe (Mallory), Gene Ramsay, Betsy McLemore, and Ann Smith. Though she is gone, her sweet smile and grace will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax. FL 32205. A public visitation will be held, Monday June 17, 2013 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Followed by a Funeral service at 4pm and interment at Riverside Memorial Park. Reverend Andrew Marshall officiating.
