Gayle was raised on their farm in the country, in Long Cove, Lampasas Co., Texas until 1940, when his mother moved into the town of Lometa with her 4 boys, after their father died. He attended Lometa School.

He developed TB and was in a T.B. Sanitarium in San Angelo for several years when he was approximately 16. After recovering from TB, he married a young woman, but the marriage lasted only a few months. From there he moved from San Angelo,Tx. to Alvin, Tx. to Hobbs, New Mexico, and back to Texas. He was a good mechanic, and could repair almost anything. All four brothers loved being together, and they hunted and fished, as well as golfing.

Gayle finally left Texas to move to Alamosa, Colorado, where he met his wife, Anita Hoff. He did odd jobs, repairing cars and equipment for townspeople, made his own trout fishing flies, had a huge garden, and fished every chance he got. He also loved to play golf, especially with his brothers when they made a trip back to their home town of Lometa, Texas for the family get-togethers.

Gayle had a great sense of humor, and loved to tease people! He always had a mischevious twinkle in his eye, and you knew he was trying to think of something funny to say or to tease you about. He was a great fun, Uncle.

Creamation - His ashes were strewn over his favorite fishing lake near Alamosa, Colo.
