Eugene died in 2005; below is his obituary.

Eugene V. Krokstrom, 91, Elsmore, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Heritage Health Care in Chanute.

He was born March 20, 1913, at Elsmore, the son of O.F. and Hulda Peterson Krokstrom. He graduated from Elsmore High School and served in the United States Army during World War II.

He owned and operated Krokstrom Brothers Lime & Rock Service in Elsmore. He was then employed at Nelson Quarry in LeHarpe. He retired from the Ammunition Plant at Parsons in 1973.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Elsmore, and of the Boestler May Post #170 of the American Legion in Chanute.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandchildren.

On Jan. 17, 1947, he married Eunice Davis. She died Jan. 10, 1987.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Vanderford, Chanute; a son, Ed Dunser, Elsmore; a brother DeWayne Krokstrom, Independence, Mo., a sister, Olphelia Zimmerman, Chanute; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and two grandsons.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the United Methodist Church in Elsmore, led by Pastor Connie Cox. Burial will be in Elsmore Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Elsmore United Methodist Church may be sent to the funeral home.
