The Gridley Twice-A-Week Herald, Wednesday, March 13, 1912, pg 1 col 3: Young Mother Passes Beyond. Mrs. Hattie Hall, wife of H. Ray Hall, of this place, died early morning after a lingering illness of almost three months, following a severe attack of pneumonia in December.
Hattie Belle Hall was born in Gridley on March 18th, 1890, and was but 21 years 11 months and 23 days at the time of her death. She was the fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Sala, well known residents of this place, and had spent the most of her life here, where she attended the public and high schools. She was a sweet and amiable young woman and the ending of her life so young, when the future was very bright for her, seems very sad. The deceased has many friends and former schoolmates here who will be grieved to learn of her demise.
She was married on November 24th, 1908, to H. Ray Hall, of this place, and is survived by her husband and a daughter, the latter a little over a year old. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Sala, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles VanDemark and Misses Mamie and Muriel Sala, all residents of this place.
The funeral services were held at the United Brethren church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Fisher, pastor of the church, officiating. A choir composed of Miss Klara Wallace, Miss Gladys Golway, Mrs. W.S. Tull, Mrs. Dora Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Wilson, Rev. Fisher, Leroy Moreland and Harry Wilson, accompanied by Miss Flo Richards as organist, rendered several appropriate and beautiful selections. A number of floral tributes were given by relatives and friends.
The pall bearers who were friends of the deceased were: Harry Wilson, Thurston Baltimore, Sam Porter, Ralph Collins, Leroy Moreland and Fred Gulick. Interment was made in Live Oak cemetery north of town.
