Mrs. Mary A. Arthur, whose death occurred at her home Tuesday, was born in Lewis, Essex county, New York. She removed to Sioux City from Keyesville, N. Y. in April 1869. She was the mother of eight children, two sons and six daughters. The sons, William and Silas, are living. The daughters living are Mrs. David Bedal, Mrs. Fanny Owens, Mrs. Carrie Tappan, and Mrs. L. W. Mallory, all of Sioux City. The funeral services were held at her residence November 4, interment in the Floyd cemetery. Mrs. Arthur in all the various scenes of her life moved forward with unfaltering trust through clouds and sunshine, ever ready with helping hand, smiling, placid face, and faithful service, from the giving of the cup of cold water to the most arduous labor for those she loved.
