Wijbe Nannes Brouwer (= Brewer) was born on 3 March 1801 in the village of Wolvega, seat of the municipality Weststellingwerf, located in the southern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, the oldest child of Nanne Wijbes Brouwer and Trijntje Tjeerds. On Sunday 8 March 1801 he was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church at Wolvega.
On 27 February 1806 his brother Tjeert Nannes Brouwer was born in Wolvega.
On 20 May 1829 the 25 years old farm hand Wybe Nannes Brouwer, son of the late Nanne Wijbes Brouwer and Trijntje Tjeerds Boltjes, married in Wolvega the four years younger Sentje Foppes de Jong (= the Young), born in the country village of Nijeholtwolde, municipality Weststellingwerf, located in the southern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, daughter of Foppe Andries and Grietje Andries.
They had in the country village of Nijelamer, municipality Weststellingwerf, the following children Brouwer:
* Trijntje, born on 24 February 1830;
* Foppe, 26 February 1831;
* Nanne, 15 April 1834;
* Tjeerd, 9 August 1836.
The first three children were named for their grandparents, Tjeerd probably for one of his uncles.
On 3 December 1838 his wife Sentje Foppes de Jong died at the age of almost 35 years in Nijelamer, municipality Weststellingwerf, Friesland.
On 16 June 1855 Wibe Brouwer (54, farmer) and his children Trina (24), Toppe (23) and Leert (19) arrived aboard the South Carolina at the port of New York, Castle Garden. It's sriking that son Nanne wasn't aboard, although he doesn't look to have died in the Netherlands before.
Wybe Brouwer is first found on the 1856 Iowa Census residing in Polk Township, Marion County, with his daughter Tryntje and her husband Peter Burggraaf.
In July 1860 Wiebe Brouwer (59 y, born in the Netherlands, farmer) his sons Foppe (26, Netherlands) and Tjeerd (22, Netherlands), and also Grietje Brouwer (21, Netherlands, relationship unknown) were living in Polk Township, Postoffice Red Rock, Marion County, located in the mid southern part of Iowa, not far away from the city of Pella, which was founded in 1847 by 800 Dutch immigrants.
He remained in Marion County for the rest of his life, where he died in July 1880 at the age of 79 ears in the ciy of Pella. It appeared there is no longer a headstone for Wybe Brouwer.
