Patricia Klein Snow researched and compiled the following information about her aunt.

"Marie was baptized January 9, 1881 with the name Marie Victoria Salome Klein at the Notre Dame des Victories Catholic Church in San Francisco. She never married and was a resident of San Francisco all of her adult life. She attended San Francisco public schools and graduated from San Jose Normal in June 1900. She taught school at San Ardo south of King City in Monterey County until 1902 when she went to teaching San Francisco as Vice Principal of the Peabody School. This information was obtained from Steve Groth in charge of Special Collections connected to San Jose State University.

"Marie taught at many schools in San Francisco. She was first listed in the Polk Directory in 1903-04 as a teacher at Garfield School. In 1930 she was Vice Principal at Argonne Elementary School. In 1936 she was Vice Principal at the Monroe School. A reference to her retirement from teaching could not be found. Her most famous student was Pierre Salinger who became an award-winning journalist and press secretary for President John F. Kennedy.

"According to Father Siffert at Notre Dame des Victories Catholic Church on Bush Street near Grant Avenue, Marie donated money to have a beautiful stained glass window installed and dedicated in memory of her parents. It was "set" between 1920 and 1940, which means she donated money for it in her lifetime.

"Marie was single her entire life. Her closest friend appears to have been Esther Castagnetto who was interviewed over the phone by Patricia Klein Snow. According to Esther, Marie owned Boston terrier dogs and rode horses in Golden Gate park. She belonged to a camera club that did outings, one of which included Yosemite. She wrote a postcard to her brother saying, "still enjoying the snow and climbing trails and walking to frozen lakes."

"In July 1909, Marie traveled alone to France via train to New York and then by "steamer" to France. She visited family members in Paris and Montmirail. Based on postcards she mailed to family members, it appears she was gone for six months.

"Marie's funeral was held at the Notre Dame des Victories Catholic Church. She is buried in a separate grave from the rest of the family. It is a simple stone marker with a raised lamb sculpture and the name Klein on it."
