MACKSVILLE - Flora Emma Cooley, 93, died
June 8, 1990, at Stafford District Hospital, Stafford.
She was born Aug. 21, 1896, at Bazine, the
daughter of Peter and Emma Schaben.
A resident of Macksville for 11 years,
formerly of Bazine, where she lived most
of her life, she was a homemaker.
She married Ansel Urban Cooley. He died Feb.
12, 1923. She later married Hubert Lester
Cooley. He died Oct. 6,1975.
Survivors include: four sons, Harold G.
and Verle L., both of Burdett, Elton U., Salem,
Ore., and Daryl P., El Paso, Texas; four
daughters, Dorothy A. Wallace, Sharon
Springs, Ruby B. Pieplow, Nickerson,
Fern E. Higgins, Macksville, and LaVergne
F. Lynd, San Antonio, Texas; a brother,
Norval Schaben, Hoquiam, Wash.; a sister,
Nevilla Deines, Dodge City; 49 grandchildren;
105 greatgrandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m.
Monday in Crandall Union Cemetery, Ness
County, with the Rev. Alfred Lawson
presiding. Memorials may be sent to the
American Cancer Society in care of Minnis Chapel, Mackville.

BAZINE-Hubert Lester Cooley, 89, died
Monday at Ness County Hospital.
Born June 22, 1886 at Nekoma, he married
Chloe Kittle, Nov. 24, 1909 at Norwich. She
died Oct. 24, 1915. He then married Flora
Schaben Cooley, May 26, 1924 at Ness City.
He was a farmer and lived here since 1951.
Survivors include widow sons: Harold,
Hardesty, Okla.; Glenn, Leoti; Verle,
Burdett; Elton and Daryl, both of El Paso,
Texas; daughters: Mrs. Dorothy Wallace,
Sharon Springs; Mrs. Ruby Pieplow,
Nickerson; Mrs. Fern Higgins, Macksville;
Mrs. LaVergne Lynd, San Antonio, Texas;
47 grandchildren; 101 greatgrandchildren;
five greatgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at
Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City: Rev.
Loy Goatley. Burial will be in Crandall
Union Cemetery, Bazine.
