Charleston - Mrs. Gertrude Franklin, 79 years old, of Charleston, died Friday at the Charleston Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 23, 1905, in Buckeye, the daughter of James Robert and Laura Riggs.
She lived in Mississippi County most of her life where she was a gauge observer at Bird's Point for the Army Corps of Engineers for 32 years. She was a member of the Wyatt First Baptist Church.
In 1923, she married Harry Franklin, who preceded her in death in March, 1954.
Also five brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Surviving are five sons, James Robert, Bill, Tommy, John D. and Harry Franklin; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Betty) Davis; two sisters, Edna Jones and Susie Clifton; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday at McMikle Funeral Home here. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
