William Albert Smith
Funeral services for Mr. William Albert Smith, 76, were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer with the Rev. Bentley Masingill, pastor of Trinity Southern Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery. He died Thursday, Feb. 10 at Christus Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport.
Mr. Smith resided in Homer and was a self-employed carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and recipient of the Purple Heart medal. He was a member of Trinity Southern Methodist Church of Homer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann May Smith, parents, W.A. "Bill" and Lura Smith, one brother, Charles Ray Smith, and two granddaughters, Lindsey and Nicole Smith.
Survivors include two sons, William Alan Smith and wife Donna, and Warren Arthur Smith and wife Betty, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred S. McHam, Betty S. and Joe Garriga, all of Homer, and Patricia Ann and Gene Winterowd of Pasadena, Texas, one brother and sister-in-law, Robert Earl and Earline Smith of Homer; five grandchildren, Amy Anderson and husband Gary, Ashley Smith and wife Dana, Wayne Smith, Andrew Smith and Adam Smith; three great-grandchildren, Krystal Anderson, Artel Smith and Avery Smith.
Pallbearers were Barney Rogers, Chris McHam, Gary Smith, David Smith, Mark Poss and Dean Busby.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the American Legion Post #73.
