OBITUARY
Death of Mrs Annie Lucille Martin Last Friday:
Again Father Time clips the thread of life and calls into his fold the immortal soul of Mrs Annie Lucille Martin of the Mount Hermon section, who died Friday, Nov 11, 1927 at 8:45 o'clock. Mrs Martin was the wife of James B Martin, who preceded her to the grave ten months. Her illness was short and her death unexpected. Three children survive her: Mrs Ella M Kilgore, this city; Dr E.K. Martin of Chicago; J.T. Martin who lives at the old homestead. Mrs Martin was a native of Monroe county and was reared near the community in which she died. Her education was received at the home schools and at Glasgow Normal, after which she taught for several years. She was married to James B. Martin Dec 25, 1888. She was a devout member of the Presbyterian church of this place. A truer, more lovable lady never lived and no one was more absorbed in the building of a home-life and forming true friendship. The old adage may well be applied here: "A friend in need is a friend indeed," for never did she refuse to give assistance when it was needed. The scantiest of tributes is to say that a true christian, sincere friend, and a lady of the highest type has departed to the Great Beyond to reap the reward which is due her. Funeral service was conducted Sunday by Rev B.A. Sykes at the Presbyterian church, after which the remains were interred in the cemetery at this place.
