Jimmy was the third child and first son born to Cameron La Rue Higgins and Marian Robinson Higgins. He was a star athlete and the only player in Alvin Little League history to have a season with no errors.
He and his brothers, Pat (d. 1973)and Brian, loved being outdoors. Jimmy was an excellent shot and could always catch fish. He and his brothers began working in the rice fields for their father and uncles at an early age, driving combines and tractors like experts by the time they were twelve. He was farming with his father at the time of his death.
He was married to Joette Arnold in 1979. Though they divorced several years later, he was always in love with her. She, too, contacted me after his death and told me she would never stop loving him.
His only child, Shae Marie Higgins (from another relationship), was also the love of his life. He thought she was the most perfect child and his life revolved around her every need and want. Her "Jimmy Daddy" nurtured her for two years and two weeks as a single parent before he was needlessly killed by an incompetent policeman who committed suicide before the start of Jimmy's wrongful death trial. He wasn't perfect, but, he had such great love for his family and friends and was loved so much in return.
Jimmy is buried next to his grandparents, Jack Robinson and Sadie Hicklin Robinson. There is no grave marker yet because it is still too painful for his parents to choose one even after all of these years.
Until we meet again, little brother...
