Henry was the son of Peter Wilbert and Mary Enders Wilbert (1803-1875). During the Civil War, Henry Wilbert (Wilvert) served in Co. F, 172nd Pennsylvania Infantry. Before the war, he married Catharine Matter and they had three children. After she died on May 26, 1857, he married Anna Whitman and they had five children. After her death on January 27, 1872, Henry married Sarah Bowman and they had three children. Sarah was the widow of Samuel Shoop. After Henry's death, Sarah married Jacob G. Enders, another Civil War veteran and a first cousin to Henry.

He married Catherine Matter and fathered Aaron (b. 12/04/51), William J. (b. @1852), and John A. (b. @1857). Catherine died in 1857. In 1860, he was a mason living with his brother in Jackson Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The children are not listed living with him.

A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Dauphin County November 2, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg November 10 as a private with Co. A, 172nd Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company July 31, 1863. The roll carries his surname as "Wilvert."

He married Anna C. Whitman and fathered Henry E. (b. @1863) and Mary Cathryn (b. 08/20/68 - married Joseph N. Ferron) and three others. Anna died in 1872, and he married widow Sarah Shoop, née Bowman, December 26, 1875, in Reading, Berks County, fathering George G. (b. 09/25/78) and Henry F. (b. 01/20/80).
