After facing death a thousand times with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines American Expeditionary Force at Chateau Thierry, St.Mihiel, Belleau Woods and in the two Meuse-Argonne offensives, and earning the Distinguished Service Cross and the Croix de Guerre in WWI, Captain Hamilton USMC dies in Gettysburg PA. Historic battlefield while taking part in maneuvers. The 5th and 6th Marines were reenacting "Pickets Charge" July, 1922, while scouting ahead of the 5th Regiment of Marines "something went wrong" with his plane and come crashing to earth from a distance of 400 feet above the Historic Battlefield. Captain Hamilton USMC, was buried at section SW site 4585 Arlington National Cemetery. He was pormoted to Major.
