HERMON and BANGOR - Phyllis R. Allen-Park, 88, went to be with her Lord, June 20, 2013, in Bangor. She was born June 26, 1924, in Bucksport, daughter of Ira and Celia (Ellis) Reed.
She graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1942. Phyllis worked at Merrill Trust Company in 1947 and later for the Bangor School Department as a guidance secretary. She married Master Sgt. Wilbur "Bill" Allen in 1946, upon his return from service in World War II. They celebrated 52 wonderful years together. After retirement they traveled and relocated to Ocala, Fla., for five years before returning to Maine. Bill passed away in 1998. Phyllis remarried in 2004 to the Rev. Clyde W. Park who passed away only a month later. Phyllis enjoyed family and friends, camping, boating, traveling, needlework and doing jigsaw puzzles with a special sister, Dottie. She was a former member of Essex Street Baptist Church, Bangor, and Ocala Springs Baptist Church. Phyllis had been a member of Hermon Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by sister, Dorothy Parker of Hampden; stepchildren; several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bill; son, David; sister, Fern Bennett; brothers, Neil and Captain Ira Reed; and second husband, Rev. Clyde W. Park.
