Donald A. Meek, 84, of County Road 300W, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Meek is survived by his wife, Patricia Meek.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter and Ron Voss officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship of Associates of Medical Evangelism (FAME) or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Donald A. Meek, 84, of Road 300 West, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Meek retired from Arvin Industries after over 40 years of service and was a past president of Local IBEW.
He was a an original member of the Columbus Mayor's Commission of Human Relations. He served on the boards of the 4-H Fair, the American Red Cross, Fellowship of Associates of Medical Evangelism (FAME), and Hilltop Christian Service Camp.

Mr. Meek was a member of Garden City Church of Christ and was a former elder and deacon at East Columbus Christian Church and a former deacon at Ogilville Christian Church. He was a 50-year member of Bayless Masonic Lodge No. 216 in Jonesville.

His hobbies included farming, playing and watching basketball and hunting with his hounds.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter and Ron Voss officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.

A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday by St. John's Masonic Lodge No. 20.

Cremation will take place after the funeral service. Inurnment will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery at a later date.

Born in Bartholomew County July 12, 1928, Mr. Meek was the son of Sylvester and Benzia Oneal Meek. He married Patricia Stepp March 28, 1948.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years; children, Gwenith (Gary) Walter of Dexter, MI and Mark (Annette) Meek of Weatherford, TX; three sisters and many devoted relatives.
Mr. Meek was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
