Nova Jean Gresham Jackson died on Saturday, June 15 (2013) at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. A local teacher and businesswoman, she resided at Maple Esplanade at the time of her death. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrison.

The memorial service was held at Holt Memorial Chapel Thursday, June 20 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Robert Shaddox officiating. Burial at Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Gresham, Frank Gresham, Tom Rob Frazier, Stan Baker, and Chris Clanton.

Born in Fordyce, Arkansas, on June 30, 1936, Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of Quinon Robertson Gresham and Mada Clement Gresham. She was a Fordyce Redbug and graduate of Fordyce High School. She attended Southern State College in Magnolia (now Southern Arkansas University), where she received bachelor's and master's degrees majoring in education, art, speech, and drama. She taught art and speech at Southern State and at Crossett High School, where her students remember her passion for the fine arts. She moved to Harrison in 1974 to open one of the first shops in the new mall, Nova's Hobby Horse. She married Larry Jackson in 1981. Later she partnered with her sister Frances Frazier to own and operate Whippersnapper's in the Colonial Plaza. She also found time to teach art classes at North Arkansas College and in the community; many local artists remember her fondly as an encouraging, enthusiastic teacher, and many Harrison homes feature her wildlife paintings in acrylic, oil, and watercolor on their walls. She was an avid and competitive birdwatcher.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother Charles Gresham. She will be greatly missed by her sister Frances Frazier of Fordyce; her brother Maurice Gresham and his wife Lucille of Waynesboro, VA; her brother, Jim Gresham, and his wife Gwen of Harrison; and sister-in-law Jean Gresham of Harrison. She doted generously on her nieces and nephews, who will remember how interested "Aunt Tootsie" always was in their lives and pursuits: Mike Gresham and wife Lisa of Harrison and Frank Gresham and wife Cris of Compton; Annette Frazier of Little Rock, Tom Rob Frazier of Maumelle; and Kim Baker and husband Stan of Farmington; Jill Schweiger and husband Craig of Edina, MN, and Brad Gresham and wife Jennifer of Chesapeake, VA; and Quin Gresham of Arrow Rock, MO, Anne Gresham and husband Chris Clanton of Fayetteville, and Claire Gresham of Brooklyn, NY.
