Velma "Babe" Keller passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, with family around her. Babe was born in Punxsutawney, PA to Frank and Leila Harl. After graduating from Punxsutawney High School in 1952, she attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, where she served as president of her school's chapter of Chi Omega Sorority. After college graduation, she was employed as a case worker for the Children's Aid Society of Elk County, PA. She married her high school classmate, Floyd H. Keller, U.S.M.C., on October 3, 1959, and they celebrated almost 54 years together. She moved to Grand Junction, CO in 1977 with her family upon Floyd's retirement from the Marine Corps. During her 36 years in Grand Junction, she held various positions within the community where she always enjoyed meeting people and making friends. In 2000, she retired from her position as Branch Office Administrator with Edward Jones. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church throughout her life. She offered her love, support, and optimism to so many people and was "Mama" and "Grandma" to many more than her own. Survivors include her husband, Floyd Keller of Grand Junction; her daughters, Sherry Keller Butler (Rick) of Ft. Collins, CO, and Lynn Keller Conklin (Bob) of Superior, CO; her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Jane Harl of Punxsutawney, PA; her grandchildren, Sarah, Jessie, and Matthew Butler, and Davis and Tanner Conklin, and one great-grandchild, Eli Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Leila Harl; her sister, Florence Harl Heasley and her brother, Edwin Harl. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Grand Junction, CO on Wednesday June 19, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. The family would like to thank everyone for their love, concern, prayers and support during this time.
